Standout wide receiver Jasen ‘Jroc’ Lopez now owns Florida state records for career receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns.
Previously, the record was held by Jamal Reid (2006–2009), but Lopez has now surpassed it, setting a new mark with 257 receptions and 4,845 yards.

Following his accomplishments, the Miami Dolphins’ recognized Lopez as the recipient of the Male Hispanic-American High School Athlete of the Year.
The Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver is a literal walking highlight reel due to his incredible speed, sticky hands, and ability to shift between defenders.
Lopez has logged numerous 100-plus yard receiving games this year, including in Chaminade-Madonna’s most recent game against St. Thomas Aquinas where he posted 8 catches for 120 yards and 1 TD.
Since freshman year, Jasen has been putting on performance after performance, giving him the spotlight that he has today. In his freshman year he recorded 70 receptions for 1275 yards and 13 touchdowns. He didn’t stop there as in his sophomore year he recorded 73 receptions for 1222 yards and 16 touchdowns. Last year he had his best season, logging 87 receptions for 1300 yards and 14 touchdowns.
In his senior year so far, he has 49 receptions for 822 yards and 9 touchdowns— those stats will continue to grow as Chaminade prepares for the postseason.
Yet, what separates ‘Jroc’ from other athletes in the south is his dual sport ability. On the hardwood, Lopez plays guard for the Lions, showing his athletic versatility.
“They (football and basketball) have both been given to me since I was little. And I, you know, I just love them. Like, I feel like when I get on the football field, I’m all football and when I get on the basketball field, I’m basketball. Like, I kind of use them as a break for each other.”— Jasen Lopez, in an CBS Miami interview.
Last basketball season Lopez averaged 25 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists per game—helping the Lions to a phenomenal district championship win, and a deep playoff run.
The dual sport athlete committed to Florida State University June 26th of this year and looks forward to playing on both the gridiron and the hardwood for the Seminoles.
