The University of Miami was first to the podium this morning for the 2025 ACC Kickoff Media Day and the questions of the day consisted of one big hole: How can Carson Beck fill the shoes of former 2025 1st Overall Pick Cam Ward?

Ward did the unthinkable during his time at Miami putting the U back on the map and into the National conversation of College Football. Cam Ward ended his college career with winning 2024 ACC Player of the Year, Davey O’Brien Winner, and a Heisman Trophy Finalist. School records were also broken during his time in Miami and going into the 2025 NFL Draft as the overall number one pick to the Tennessee Titans.

As for Carson Beck, he made his way to Miami this offseason after leading the Georgia Bulldogs with a 24-3 record in two seasons as the starter. During his time in Athens, Carson Beck tossed for over 7,000 yards and 52 touchdowns. Beck is the most experienced QB in the game, and has plenty of ‘big moments’ under his belt.

“We are looking for the first and best version of Carson Beck,” Coach Mario Cristobal said, “Carson has as good of experience as a quarterback that you can have.”

When asked to reflect on his journey this off-season, Carson spoke on what helped him become a Miami Hurricane:

“The biggest thing for me was the offensive fit.” Beck shared. “As a Quarterback, the Offensive Coordinator, the scheme and the guys you’re going to have around you is going to be huge to the success and ultimately for the future of a quarterback. This is my future, and I think this decision is one of the better decisions I’ve made.”

On December 7th, 2024, Carson Beck suffered an injury to his throwing elbow that would sideline him for the remainder of his final season as a Bulldog. During Media Day, Beck explained how he was able to attack his recovery and grow with his guys, despite being unable to throw the ball.

“Since I’ve been here in January, developing the relationships and building the chemistry between me, the receivers, the running backs, the tight ends and the O-Line…. it’s reinforced my decision in a positive way.” Beck stated. “I tried to take more of a coaching role, being behind every play, trying to help the other quarterbacks that were getting reps, picking one receiver and watching every single one of his reps and then going and watching the film with him after. I’m trying to teach everybody the way I see the game so we’re all on the same page.”

As Carson previously stated, that chemistry has been built with the other guys on offense. Players throughout ‘Canes spring ball was vocal about welcoming Beck to Coral Gables with open arms. Junior Offensive Lineman, Francis Mauigoa, has made sure to build that camaraderie with his his future QB1.

“If I’ve got to block this guy for 10 seconds for him to make a play, I’ll do that, just like last year.” Mauigoa told the media.

All signs indicate that Carson Beck will be 100% and receive the green light ahead of their week one matchup vs Notre Dame on September 6th. Kickoff is slated 7:30 p.m. EST, and will be televised on ABC.
