Travis Hunter did not play a snap on offense Sunday. He played every snap on defense. Hunter logged 100% of the possible 76 defensive snaps on Sunday.
Hunter logged the best game of his career when it was needed most. The Jaguars were without Montaric Brown and Christian Braswell, entering play, and Hunter responded by logging four tackles with two pass deflections. Hunter also only allowed 26 yards on seven total targets.

Hunter also had an interception in the first quarter that was called back due to a roughing the passer call. He was targeted three times when guarding star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and allowed just one reception for six yards.
Chase left with a concussion, and Jarrian Jones handled most of the coverage on Tee Higgins the rest of the way. Hunter, meanwhile, is the only cornerback in football with a 0.0 passer rating against in man coverage with multiple targets, per PFF.
Head coach Liam Coen was asked about the snap count. “If he gets hurt on offense, we’re in a real bad spot,” he said. Brown and Braswell’s injuries were the reason and using Hunter on offense risked leaving Jacksonville down three cornerbacks.
Joe Burrow finished with a 58.3 passer rating when targeting Hunter.
Hunter’s success against the Bengals doesn’t guarantee he’s done as a two-way player. If anything, this was the worst game to judge where he stands in that regard.
With Jacksonville unable to risk losing another defensive back, it was unlikely that Hunter touched the field on offense unless it was absolutely needed. But with the Jaguars being in control of the game throughout, his number was needed exclusively on defense.
The verdict: a game with 100% of the defensive snaps and none on offense looks like the end of the two-way experiment. However, given the the team’s circumstances, it isn’t that simple.
2025 (7 Games) — 324 offense, 162 defense (33% defense)
Week 1 vs. CLE — 4 offense, 29 defense (88% defense)
Week 2 at DEN — 7 offense, 37 defense (84% defense)
Week 3 vs. NE — 5 offense, 45 defense (90% defense)
Week 4 at CIN —0 offense, 76 defense (100% defense)
Season — 16 offense, 187 defense (92% defense)
Hunting Snaps runs every week. The question it tracks: is the two-way experiment alive, or is Travis Hunter becoming a cornerback with an occasional offensive package?
