Jacksonville, FL.- You know what they say folks, defense wins championships.

There’s no sugar coating it: today was an awful day for the Jaguars’ offense. Fumbled snaps, bad reads, lack of separation, dropped balls, multiple interceptions and a partridge in a pear tree.

The quarterback room struggled heavily today. All three passers struggled during accuracy drills, 7v7/11v11 and 2 minute offense. It was blatant that they were NOT on the same page with this new receiving corps. Trevor Lawrence’s struggles over the past two days seemed to continue.

Lawrence looked a step off today, missing multiple easy throws. T-Law also had a few blemishes on his report card, throwing two interceptions (Travon Walker, Andre Cisco pick 6). Lawrence made up for his picks with a beautiful deep ball TD to Devin Duvernay.

Today’s two-hand touch tackling limited the effectiveness of the run game, however Tank Bigsby was able to break off two solid runs.

Flipping sides of the ball, today was a defensive dominant game. I was especially impressed with Jacksonville’s pass rush, as Travon Walker and Joshua Hines Allen stood out, forcing the offensive line to make multiple mistakes during pass protection. Allen and Walker’s performances today gave the offense too many problems, and Doug Pederson forced them to sub out on numerous occasions.

Linebackers Devin Lloyd and Foye Oluokun fortified the middle of the field, causing multiple PBU’s and deflections.

Another story line worth following has been the kicking competition. Today, it was extremely one sided, as rookie Cam Little was automatic. Little knocked down field goals from all depths of the field, while Riley Patterson struggled.

Today’s workout was a clear sign of what needs to be improved offensively leading into the season. Negativity is something that plagues a football team, so it’s best the offense wipes the slate clean, shakes off the rough practice, and gets back to work next week.
