Instant Classic in Boca: Scots Come Back at Home to go 1-0

BOCA RATON, FL – Absolute scenes at Saint Andrew’s tonight. What was an underlooked matchup on tonight’s card, turned into the game of the week and possible candidate for game of the year.

After being down 27-19 against the Lions, who were originally trailing 12-0 at the start of the game, The Scots stormed back. For any scouts who might’ve been watching this game, they might’ve noticed the the position duel at quarterback between the two teams as Dylan Mayers from St. Andrews and Joe Dailey from TKA put on an absolute show for people to watch. Using a combination of their arm through the air and their legs to get the ball moving on the ground.

The Lions came out after halftime and scored another touchdown with a reception from Jovares Jones giving the Lions a 34-19 lead. The game seemed secure for the Lions, until St. Andrews started to climb back.

That touchdown right there by Cayden Hofbauer started what would be the biggest future thirty minutes of football anyone would ever watch. Kings went into the fourth quarter still holding on to their lead, but the Scots found the endzone, thanks to Jackson Parke, who went on to secure the two point conversion to tie the game. Then, the unimaginable happened.

Saint Andrew’s took the lead for the first time since the first quarter with 24 seconds left to go. Kings, however, took it personally and brought a kick return all the way back to the endzone with six seconds left

Heading into overtime both teams successfully converted their first attempts to score a touchdown giving us a 48-48 tie. Kings was given a second chance to score by starting the second overtime period. Reggie Workman found the endzone for another touchdown. However the Lions came up short on the extra point attempt, giving St. Andrews an edge coming into their possession.

Mayer’s finds standout Teddy Hoffman in the back corner of the endzone, Hoffman who had been responsible for most of the Scots points, found himself with the winning catch of the game to add onto his incredible performance. Giving St. Andrews a 55-54 win to start their season.
