Ft. Lauderdale, FL.- The hometown squad is back in action!
Tonight (April 6), Inter-Miami CF hosted Toronto FC in an MLS Eastern Conference matchup in a battle of both sides of the bracket. On one hand, Inter-Miami entered this game as the #2 seed in the conference, at 6-2 with 14 points scored, while Toronto is scraping the bottom of the standings at the #15 seed at 0-3-4.
While Inter looked to continue commanding the East, Toronto surely didn’t roll over and die. Throughout a hard fought first half, things did not go in favor of the Biscayne Boys. Inter-Miami faced early frustrations as two first half goals were taken off the board following VAR reviews. To add onto the pressure, Federico Bernardeschi opened the scoring for Toronto in extra first half minutes.
As time wound down and the tensions continued to build during the first half, Lionel Messi did what he does best, launching a left footed strike from 15 feet out tying the match at 1-1.
Throughout the remainder of the match, Inter-Miami failed to capitalize on multiple occasions. The only positive highlight of the second half for Inter-Miami came when Allen Obando subbed into his first career MLS appearance. Other than that, tonight’s matchup ended in a 1-1 draw.
