JENSEN BEACH – All it took was one big play to change the game for Dominic Duran and the Jensen Beach Falcons.

Down 7-0 to Sebastian River in his team’s Week 9 matchup (Oct. 20) on the road, the 5-foot-9, 220-pound running back (‘24) had a 35-yard touchdown run that inspired the team en route to their eventual 40-14 win.

“It was a great run and it got the team pumped up,” said Duran, who was voted as the Treasure Coast’s Breakout Player of Week 9.

Duran finished the game with the following statistics:

•8 carries, 70 yards, 1 touchdown
•1 reception, 12 yards

Duran on winning our Breakout Player of Week 9 honor:

“It feels great to be player of the week,” Duran said. “It shows people the hard work I put in everyday at practice. My coaches help me everyday on making myself better as a player and a person. It’s just great to see my hard is being noticed.”

In eight regular season games, Duran has posted the following statistics:

•420 rushing yards

•45 receiving yards

•465 all-purpose yards

•3 touchdowns

Here’s hoping we see more from Duran over at least the next three games, which are as follows:

Week 10: Home vs. Bayside – Tonight (Oct. 26) at 7 p.m.

Week 11: Away at Martin County – Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.

Week 12: Class 3S-Region 3 quarterfinal round – Opponent TBA
