Jordan Travis makes history at The 26th annual Lou Groza awards celebration
WEST PALM BEACH- Jordan Travis is the first Benjamin player to win Player of the Year.
Jordan Travis has shaken off defenders all year long and he was able to shake off two more Monday night.
Travis beat out Palm Beach Central defensive back Akeem Dent and Palm Beach Gardens defensive back Gurvan Hall. Although Travis had the spotlight on stage for his acceptance speech he opened up his speech stating “congratulations to Akeem Dent and Gurvan Hall on having great seasons, great players.”
Travis was a nightmare for opposing defenses all year long. Travis racked up over 2,100 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns. In addition to that Travis ran for over 900 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. Travis is the true definition of a dual threat quarterback.
Jordan Travis is a great player but he’ll be the first to tell you that he couldn’t accomplish anything without his team and support system.
Benjamin Junior wide receiver Kai Rosado and Jordan Travis have been best friends since the age of five. Travis top target racked up 29 catches for 708 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns during his junior campaign. Kai is a system of support on and off the field for Travis.
When asked how much are you going to celebrate with the big boys(offensive line) Travis chuckled and said “Were going to celebrate for sure!”
Travis teammates took to Twitter to congratulate him. Senior Offensive lineman Martin Weisz tagged all of the offensive lineman in a tweet and replied to a Jordan Travis video interview using the hashtag “##JordanProtectionAgency”
Jordan Travis put the team on his back all year long as the Benjamin team was able to make a great playoff run. The Bucs playoff run was halted in the FHSAA regional finals game against a state championship bound Hollywood-Chaminade Madonna. The Benjamin buccaneers finished their season with a respectable 8-3 record.
Travis is currently committed to playing at the University of Louisville next year. Travis should fit right in with a former Palm Beach County recruit and Heisman winner Lamar Jackson. Jordan Travis has a bright future. Great player and even better person.
