WEST PALM BEACH, FL – It was a beautiful, sunny day on the campus of Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida where the Keiser Seahawks took on the Fort Lauderdale Eagles. Keiser came into this game 2-0, both wins against D2 schools on the road. Fort Lauderdale was coming in on the opposite end of the spectrum at 0-2 with losses to Webber International and Ave Maria. Pre-game, the #1 team in the nation was hyped up to play in front of their home crowd of more than 1,100 for the first time this season.

From when toe hit leather at 6:00 PM to the final snap of the game, Keiser had complete control over the Eagles. Keiser won the coin toss and elected to defer to get the ball in the second half. Ben Derby had the honor of kicking off the game and we begun with a Fort Lauderdale drive.

The first drive for Fort Lauderdale was a 3 and out and they punted giving Keiser their first opportunity of the day. They seized the opportunity with the help of RB Jaden Meizinger rushing a combined 41 yards and scoring the games first touchdown to put the Seahawks up 7-0 with 10:43 left in the first quarter.

This trend continued throughout the first half and by halftime, Keiser led 28-0. Highlights of the first half included QB Shea Spencer’s 52 yard TD pass to Maurico Porcha and Jaden Meizinger’s 3 touchdowns.

By the end of the game, the rain started to fall and Keiser ran into the locker room with a 45-0 rout over Fort Lauderdale.

Without a doubt, the MVP of the game was RB Jaden Meizinger, who ran for 76 yards and 3 touchdowns on only 8 carries and averaged 9.5 yards per attempt. Some other star players were RB Andrew Burnette who had 1 touchdown and 67 yards, RB Jaden Miller who had 1 touchdown and 93 yards, and WR Armani Norcius who had 56 yards and 3 receptions.

With this win, Keiser moves to 3-0 on the season and travels to Thomasville, Georgia to face the Thomas University Night Hawks next week at 7:00 PM. Fort Lauderdale moves to 0-3 and will travel to Lakeland to face the Southeastern University Fire at 7:00 PM.
