EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ. – The pads are on at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center on the grounds of MetLife Stadium, hope is in the air, and the players share the fans sentiment.

The team came out today to bright and warm sun as compared to yesterday where they were met with clouds and eventual rain at the end of practice, a very nice contrast.
However, this didn’t stop some players, such as Abdul Carter, from wearing hoodies and heavy clothing in the almost near Florida summer weather conditions.
After our first day in pads, here are some notes and takeaways from today’s practice.
How Legit can Tyrone Tracy and Cam Skattebo be as a Backfield duo?
Fans got to see unsung hero from last year’s abysmal season, second year running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. take reps with the first team today, as most of the Giants offensive drills today consisted of perfecting the run game, the fans got to see plenty of Tracy at work.
The fans also got to see rookie and cult hero Cam Skattebo take the field in pads for the first time, the Arizona State product has quickly won over the hearts of fans due to his gritty performance and unhinged attitude, reminding many older fans of Giants great, Brandon Jacobs.

A Wide Receiver Proving Ground
The Giants come into camp again with a bloated wide receiver room with no clear designations as to who is who apart from Malik Nabers who will be WR1 coming into opening day. It is likely Darius Slayton will take the WR2 spot as he has become the veteran presence in the Giants locker room. Fans have speculated and debated that the WR3 spot could belong to Jalin Hyatt as many are hoping that the receiver entering his third year will be poised to breakout with Russell Wilson at QB.
Today, was a day for the guys looking to prove something. Undrafted free agent and college teammate of rookie Quarterback Jaxson Dart, Juice Wells made some heads turn at camp today, showing his hunger to prove himself worthy of a final roster spot today. Wells took mainly second team reps, finding a special connection with Jameis Winston, the two even stayed after camp ended today to get extra practice as Winston helped Wells with his route running and situational catching.
Dart Continuing to Promise
Jaxson Dart’s reps were limited today to sharing between the second team with Winston and the third team with DeVito, but in his limited chances, he certainly made the most of it.

The Secondary is Heating up
After a down year, the Giants went into this offseason with the intentions of fixing up their secondary as one of the primary concerns. Bringing in Jevon Holland from the Dolphins at safety, K’von Wallace from the Seahawks at safety, and Paulson Adebo from the Saints at Corner.
The secondary showed sparks of promise, from big time PBU’s to one handed interceptions.
