Wellington, FL.- What happens when Palm Beach County’s top alumni from across the entire athletic spectrum collaborate for one common goal? You get the Wellington Sports Academy.
In March 2024, 10-Year NFL Veteran LB and Palm Beach Central alumni Jon Bostic announced his plans for the Wellington Sports Academy, a $38 Million, 120+ acre facility being built in Wellington’s Village Park.
“We’re bringing IMG Academy to the heart of the 561.” Bostic eagerly shared.
The W.S.A will stand as the largest multi-sport training facility in the state of Florida, and one of the biggest in the country. Featuring a world class coaching tree and state of the art facilities, the Wellington Sports Academy will immediately serve as a prime destination for the top talents across South Florida.
What is the Wellington Sports Academy?
The Wellington Sports Academy not only one of the biggest training facilties in the country, but is also a private school for grades 6-12 that offers a one-of-a-kind educational experience on our expansive 120+ acre campus. Our accredited curriculum blends rigorous academics with the flexibility required for student-athletes to excel in both their studies and athletic pursuits. With dual enrollment opportunities, advanced courses, and career-focused electives, we prepare our students for success in college and beyond, providing them with a competitive edge in their academic and athletic careers.
Our “Why?”
“We need to get more of these kids into college, no question. There’s far too much talent here for the small number of kids we’re actually sending to college. That number should be significantly higher. The real issue is that youth sports have become such a business, and player development has taken a backseat. As a result, many kids end up with their dreams crushed because they aren’t being properly developed.” Coach Bostic stated. “These kids today are bigger, faster, stronger, and more explosive than we ever were, but they’re not better players. That’s a clear sign that development is being neglected. On top of that, too many people are exploiting these kids and their families, which is only holding them back in the long run. They fall behind in ways that are tough to recover from. It’s frustrating, especially because we always get those last-minute calls in January, when it’s too late to make a real impact.”
At The Wellington Sports Academy, where we’re different is that we care about getting these kids getting into college over winning. We’d rather go 0-25 and send all 20 seniors to college than go undefeated, win a state championship, and only send 1 out of 20 seniors to college. Winning is not our top priority—helping these kids reach their dreams by getting them into college is. Too many other places have it the other way around and forget that it’s about the kids, not themselves.

Pitching Lab:

Trajekt – an advanced pitching machine with technology designed to replicate the pitching mechanics and pitches of real-life pitchers. Essentially, it’s a robotic system that uses vast amounts of data to simulate the exact windup and pitch trajectories of any pitcher, generating pitches from the appropriate arm angle. It allows teams to virtually recreate a pitcher’s delivery and pitch types in a highly accurate and controlled environment. Trajekt is used by teams in both Major League Baseball and Japan. One notable feature of Trajekt, known as The Arc, enables hitters to practice pitch recognition and plate discipline by precisely locating pitches, simulating a realistic batting environment. This makes it a valuable training tool for both pitchers and hitters.
Trackman & Rapsodo – inside all batting cages provide real-time feedback and detailed swing metrics, including launch angle, exit velocity, hard-hit percentage, and point of contact. This data helps our coaches fine-tune each athlete’s technique during batting practice and allows for game simulation in a controlled environment.
Swing Catalyst – provides sensor-based swing analysis with video clips, helping athletes improve swing plane, connection, and rotation.
High-Speed Insight Camera – captures pitching and swing mechanics for in-depth video breakdowns.
Awre – offers video and streaming technology to live-stream all home games and produce on-demand game content.
