Last week, the Florida State Seminoles took their annual road trip from Tallahassee to Jacksonville, Florida to train at the University of North Florida.
This trip midway through fall camp serves as a team bonding opportunity, and a way for guys to become familiar with teammates outside of their position room. While this three day getaway served as primarily a football related exercise, some of the Seminoles found a different way to grow.
During their time in Jacksonville, many of FSU’s stars took a trip to the Wolfson Children’s Hospital, and visited kids that are going through a really tough time. One of the ‘Noles in attendance at Wolfson was their starting Kicker, Jake Weinberg. When asked about the opportunity to give back to children in need, Jake had this to say:
“The time I had at the hospital was an unforgettable experience, I truly had an amazing time spending just a few hours with the kids.” Weinberg shared. “Being able to hangout with those amazing kids and putting smiles on their faces was truly an amazing moment. Being able to represent FSU was an incredible experience and was so grateful to meet those amazing kids and hopefully change their lives or impact it in some positive way.”

Being able to bring a smile to their faces was a powerful reminder of the impact we as athletes can have beyond the game of football. Amazing time and will never forget pic.twitter.com/NfhnG1qyO4

Weinberg, a former Khols’ Kicking five-star out of American Heritage (Delray) was one of the most highly sought after kicking prospects in the class of 2024. During his high school career, Jake was automatic from any distance, with his longest career FG being from 57 yards out. Even more impressively, Jake Weinberg would consistently launch kickoffs 80+ yards through the upright, neutralizing any thought of a return. Jake’s dominant kicking performances helped garner him two consecutive Lou Groza High School Place Kicker of the Year accolades.
After redshirting last season and learning behind Lou Groza Award winner Ryan Fitzgerald, it’s officially Weinberg’s time to shine. During the ‘Noles 11th game of the season vs Charleston Southern, Jake scored his first career points off a 22 yard FG try.

Whenever Jake lines up to kick this season, whether it’s an ordinary kickoff or a game sealing field goal, he won’t just have all of ‘Noles nation behind him, he’ll also have the Wolfson Children cheering him on.
