It’s the most wonderful time of the year- Bowl Season!

Each year, there’s two post season contests that grace football fields in South Florida, with only one being native to Palm Beach County- the Boca Raton Bowl. Over the last twelve years, the Boca Raton Bowl has been hosted at Howard Schnellenberger Field on the campus of Florida Atlantic, in honor of the late great Coach.

This year, the previously titled RoofClaim.Com Boca Raton Bowl has a new sponsor that’s actively awaiting the spotlight in Paradise- Busch’s Baked Beans. The first set of competitors of the now annual Bowl of Beans were revealed earlier this afternoon, as the Louisville Cardinals of the ACC and the Toledo Rockets of the MAC are escaping the cold and taking a much needed trip to Paradise.

The Rockets are no strangers to Boca Raton, as this is their 3rd Boca Bowl over the years, currently standing at 2-0 all time (2015 v Temple, 2022 v Liberty). With 3 all time appearances, Toledo now garners the most representation in Boca Bowl history, surpassing our gracious host- the Florida Atlantic Owls, alongside the Northern Illinois Huskies and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers who have 2.

As for Louisville, the Cardinals have their own ties to the Boca Raton Bowl. The late great Coach Schnellenberger, a Louisville native, was the Head Coach of the Cardinals for ten seasons (1985-94) earning a 54 win, 56 loss and 2 tie record as the head man in red. Coach Schnellenberger brought Louisville to 4 Bowl games over his tenure, winning 2 (’91 Fiesta Bowl v #2 Alabama, ’93 Liberty Bowl v Michigan State).

The inaugural Busch’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans will be hosted on Tuesday, December 23 at Flagler Credit Union Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2PM EST.
