Miami cruises to a 76–54 victory behind dominance on both ends 

The Miami Hurricanes have officially locked themselves into a spot in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon, improving to 23-6 (12–4 ACC) following a dominant performance against the Boston College Eagles.  

After starting the game slow and trailing early, Miami exploded towards the end of the first half, outscoring Boston College 30-6 in the final 15 minutes, going into the half leading 36-19. The Hurricanes kept control throughout the rest of the game, leading by as much as 27 points in the second half thanks to the efficiency on offense and taking control of the paint on defense.  

Miami was led by point guard Tre Donaldson, who led all Hurricanes with 15 points on 6-13 shooting. The Canes offense also got a spark off the bench from Noam Dovrat, finishing with a season high of 12 points (4-5 3PT).  

The Canes’ effort was certainly shown today, forcing Boston College into multiple scoring droughts, and limiting the Eagles to only 4 points within a 13-minute span in the first half.  

Despite the win, Miami played far from perfect today. The Hurricanes struggled again from the free-throw line shooting just 61% from the stripe and were forced into turnovers at certain situations when they weren’t able to get a look off with the ball. Coach Jai Lucas has preached about the importance of removing those struggles, and that’s something that the Canes will have to work on before tournament play begins.  

With Miami’s win today, it keeps them in third place in the ACC with two regular-season games remaining, positioning them for a favorable seed and potentially a double bye for the ACC Tournament in a couple of weeks.  

Miami will be back on Wednesday as they travel to SMU (19-10; 8-8 ACC) for a 7:00 tip-off on ACC Network, before coming back home on Saturday for a big regular season finale against Louisville.
