WELLINGTON, FL – After an opening week loss to Bartow, the Tigers looked for a rebound victory tonight as they came down south tonight at Wellington High School for a public school showdown.

It didn’t take long for the Tigers to strike as Running back Dominic Lucci found the endzone to give the Tigers a quick 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter with 14 seconds left, Paul Hendrix found the endzone for the Tigers giving them a 14-0 cushion.

Heading into the 2nd quarter is when all the momentum started to roll for the Tigers. Heading into halftime, the Tigers scored four unanswered touchdowns. Wellington however, did return a kickoff for a touchdown to finally get them on the board. It wasn’t enough though as the scoreline read 42-7 at halftime.

Heading out of the half, Martin County moved around their roster to give some of their starters a chance to recover and rest, given the score. Scoring action didn’t resume until the last two minutes of the fourth quarter when Wellington Receiver Jaylin Woods nabbed a good open reception to bring it to the house. As for Martin County they didn’t see the endzone for the entire 2nd half, with their massive lead in the 1st half it wasn’t really anything to be concerned about, as Martin County walked away with the victory, 42-13.

Next week Martin County is at home against a hot Jupiter Warriors crew, as for Wellington they face off against Jenson Beach on the road.
