WEST PALM BEACH – After a memorable junior season in which he allowed no quarterback sacks, Brandin Luzincourt has started to gain a level of notoriety.
It may not have come the way he wanted to, but the Palm Beach Lakes junior offensive lineman has been patient by focusing on what he can control. But over time, Luzincourt’s film has spoken volumes for him on the college recruiting circuit.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman, who is currently our No. 5-ranked player at his offensive position, has received offers from FAU, Findlay, Keiser, and Samford. The offers started pouring in for Luzincourt on May 13, with his first one coming from Samford in particular.
“My recruitment process started slow,” Luzincourt said. “I was an undersized lineman playing tackle my sophomore year with low grades. And my coach Julius Edwards had really seen the talent in me and really molded me to strive for that greatness in myself. Growing from 6-2, 240 my sophomore year to 6-4, 270 throughout my junior season, I started to become eye candy to recruiters. The coaches did a very good job on sending my film out and pulling me aside to talk to many collegiate coaches 24-7. Samford seen the level of football I was playing and decided I was the guy.”
Palm Beach Lakes junior running back Antonio Outler said he’s happy for Luzincourt’s college recruiting breakthrough.
“He comes from not too much, so everything he gets is a plus,” Outler said. “He holds the backfield down and he can make the big plays.”
What stands out about Luzincourt is his relentless passion for improving his craft on a daily basis and the game of football itself. This is obvious when it comes to his zeal for protecting fellow junior and quarterback Tre’Von Taylor at all times.
“I take blocking very seriously all the time, especially for Tre’Von,” Luzincourt said of Taylor, who is our No. 1 quarterback and No. 16 overall player in Palm Beach County. “He’s an elite quarterback, and it’s my job to give him time to make that deep accurate pass, which I know he’s 100 percent capable of making all the time. I know if I don’t do my job, he can’t do his.”
Luzincourt is also fiercely protective of fellow junior and running back Outler, who is our No. 1 running back and No. 4 overall player in Palm Beach County.
“Either you make a hole for him or he’ll run through you,” Luzincourt said. “That goes for the opposing team and his teammates. Lord knows I’ve been on the receiving end of a truck or two, not nice. That’s motivational on its own.”
Luzincourt’s mentality played a large role in how Palm Beach Lakes ended its season as the undisputed No. 1 team in our area. The Rams went on to win the award for Lou Groza Team of the Year this past December.
Luzincourt on how his junior season ended:
“My junior year went great,” Luzincourt said. “I don’t think it could’ve been any better. I had a breakout year totaling 40+ pancakes and no sacks allowed all season. My team went undefeated in the regular season by becoming district champs and making it to the second round of the playoffs. We also finally beat Dwyer after 20+ years. We did this with a great family atmosphere, my teammates and a very encouraging coaching staff.”
