CORAL GABLES, FL – Miami improved to 3-0 this past Sunday when the Canes took on the Eagles from Coppin State. More than 5,000 fans poured into the Watsco Center to watch the Canes roll over the Eagles 93-63 in a game that was never close.
Both teams started off slow, not scoring until 18:08 left in the first half by a Mathew Cleveland layup. The Canes continued to score, going up 8-2 at the first TV timeout with 15 minutes left. By the end of the first half, Miami led 43-19.
Miami continued this domination in the second half, winning 93-63. Mathew Cleveland was the player of the game. He scored a team high 15 points and went 3-4 from the 3 point line. Brandon Johnson scored the second highest points with 14 points. He went 6-8 in the paint and 2-3 from the 3 point line. Lynn Kidd scored 12 points and went 5-8 from the paint.
Miami is still undefeated and will face Drake on the 21st at 12:00 PM.
Coppin State moves to 0-6 on the season. They travel to George Mason on the 20th.
