In a feat never before accomplished by any school in college sports, the University of Michigan has produced first-round draft picks in all four major professional sports leagues in 2025. This achievement highlights Michigan’s commitment to excellence across its athletics programs.
The unprecedented milestone was completed on Sunday when Mitch Voit, a standout second baseman for the Michigan baseball team, was selected 38th overall by the New York Mets in the MLB draft.
It all started in April with the NFL draft, where three Wolverines were selected in the first round: defensive tackle Mason Graham (5th overall to the Cleveland Browns), tight end Colston Loveland (10th to the Chicago Bears), and defensive tackle Kenneth Grant (13th to the Miami Dolphins). Then, in June, Danny Wolf was selected 27th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA draft.
Just two days after Wolf’s selection, Michigan forward Will Horcoff was picked 24th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL draft. Multiple other programs like Ohio State, Alabama, and UCLA have produced multiple first-round picks across different sports in a single year, but none had previously accomplished the feat of having first-round selections in all four major professional leagues in the same year. It shows the school can help players in many different sports develop into professionals.

The Numbers:
