WELLINGTON – Often times, these awards take a lot of internal debate. This time, it didn’t.
Bryan Robinson was the best player in Palm Beach County, and it wasn’t close. The only other player we even considered for MVP of the Year was Pahokee senior defensive end Frankie Burgess, who has been selected as our MVP runner-up and Defensive Player of the Year.
Put on Robinson’s tape, especially his Class 8A-Region 3 quarterfinals performance against Centennial, and you’ll see a near-perfect prospect.
Against Centennial, Robinson finished the game with five receiving touchdowns in an all-time performance by a player in the county. His performance helped lead Palm Beach Central to a 49-42 victory and an MVP of Week 12 honor.
Robinson showed everything there is to like about him. Not only is he able to run crisp routes, he’s also able to make people miss in the open field, and when necessary, is able to leap over players to make catches.
Robinson is, in many ways, the perfect wide receiver. And at 6-foot-1, he has the size to support that.
“Bryan’s elite,” Palm Beach Central head coach Scottie Littles said of Robinson on his signing day, where he announced his commitment to Florida State on Dec. 18. “Elite ball skills, that’s what really makes him special. Runs great routes, he’s physical.”
Even though his team’s run in the playoffs ended prematurely, Robinson’s elite talent and impact to Palm Beach Central earns him the Most Valuable Player award.
