PALM BEACH GARDENS – Jamarri Brown is excited about his upcoming senior season.
The athlete has received a fresh start by transferring from Cardinal Newman to Palm Beach Gardens earlier this summer.
“This is my home school,” Brown said. “I have friends and family who play for Gardens, so I feel I will be very comfortable with them. I’m comfortable with the coaching staff as well.”
Brown will be teaming up with his cousin Vincent Dubose, a linebacker from the 2022 class.
“Vince is an exceptional player for Gardens,” Brown said. “He’s aggressive and he knows his position very well. He will stop the run, while I focus on stopping the pass. He’s like my best friend, so I know he’ll always have my back on the field.”
The Gators will have a productive player on their roster, as he accounted for 41 tackles, 37 pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble on defense, while adding 137 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards in 10 games played this past season.
Brown’s best game last year for Cardinal Newman took place in Week 10 against American Heritage, as he tallied 5 tackles and no passes caught on him in a 35-21 victory on the road.
In the offseason, Brown received his first offer from Keiser. His breakthrough moment came on May 28.
“They show me a lot of love,” Brown said. “I stay in contact with them.”
Brown has recently been receiving interest from Connecticut and Georgia Southern as well. We could see his scholarship offer count going up soon, depending on what happens in the fall.
And now that the FHSAA has officially decided that teams can start fall football practice on July 27 – it was approved by a 10-5 vote from the state’s Board of Directors last night (July 20) – Brown is beaming with pure joy for the chance to lace up again.
“I think it’s great for them to keep it that date because it gives Florida time to practice and get ready for the upcoming season,” Brown said. “For me, I get all the time in the world to work on my craft.”
The 5-foot-10, 168-pound athlete is currently ranked as our No. 43 overall player in Palm Beach County. He wants to improve on his production across the board this fall, so one could expect his rating to improve in the coming weeks ahead.
“I’m trying to get at least 7 interceptions this year and lead my team in tackles,” Brown said. “I want to add at least 800 receiving yards. This is going to be my year to
ball out. I’m gonna show y’all how I’ll do it.”
Ultimately, Brown wants the Gators to have a deep playoff run in Class 8A later this fall to close out his high school football career.
“I’m trying to make it out of the first round of the playoffs,” Brown said. “When I was at Forest Hill my sophomore year, we didn’t make it past the first round. My junior at Newman, we lost in the first round. And last year, Gardens got eliminated in the first round. We gotta break this first-round syndrome we have, and that’s all what matters to me right now.”
