WELLINGTON – Justin Bostic wanted to end his recruiting process today (Sept. 7).

The Palm Beach Central 2023 defensive back (No. 1-ranked DB; No. 5 overall player in Palm Beach County – 2023 class)
did just that by announcing on his Twitter handle where his college destination will be at for the next few years.

Bostic (5-foot-10, 181 pounds) spoke on what exactly went into his final decision.

“It’s a great culture. It’s a great program,” Bostic said. “They’re on the build up. They’re on the come up.”

What stood out to Bostic is the level of recruiting that FAMU has decided to take advantage of at this time.

“FAMU has done a lot more recruiting this year compared to other HBCU’s,” Bostic said. “I want to shout out Coach Ris [FAMU recruiting coordinator Devin Rispress]He’s probably taking over the recruiting game for HBCU’s. Probably one of the best recruiters in college football, to be honest.”

Bostic spoke of the love he has been receiving from the entire FAMU coaching staff and the culture they have fostered at the HBCU program.

“All of the college coaches have been recruiting me hard, showing me love,” Bostic said. “Coach Simmons [FAMU head coach Willie Simmons], Coach Ris, even the offensive coaches are showing me love. But that being said, it’s the culture…I’m just excited to get up, show my talent, and help that team win.”

Just five days before his decision to go with FAMU, Bostic played perhaps the best game of his football career to date.

It was a legendary outing in Palm Beach Central’s Week 2 game at Lakewood (St. Petersburg), which resulted in a program-defining 27-7 road win over one of the state’s very best teams – regardless of classification.

Bostic was selected as our MVP of Week 2 and Defensive Player of Week 2 due to his 15 tackles, five pass breakups, and three interceptions. Two of his interceptions returned for touchdowns – 101 yards and 90 yards, respectively.

Palm Beach County’s best defensive back spoke on his memorable performance against Lakewood.

“We watched a lot of film. We knew a lot of their tendencies, calling them out in the middle of the game,” Bostic said. “Helped us a lot. Helped us make plays. We knew their QB was going to run a lot, so we prepared for that. We watched film knowing in the bunch, they ran a lot of smash concept…We played it to perfection.”

Bostic spoke specifically of his second pick-six against Lakewood.

“We were rolling out,” Bostic said. “We had good pressure by Keith Rader (Palm Beach Central 2023 athlete). He’s also another prospect. He had a bunch of QB pressures. I really shouted out him. He’s the reason why I got those pick sixes.”

Bostic made sure to shout out the entire Palm Beach Central defense for his defensive touchdowns.

“I don’t know who it was, but if it wasn’t for that block on their QB, I don’t think I would have scored,” Bostic said about one of his pick-sixes. “Shout out to the defense. We’ve been working on turnover drills and running to the ball; also blocking on our turnovers. So that’s really what helped us.”

Bostic provided his final assessment on the Lakewood game and what to expect moving forward.

“They were a Top 20 team in the state,” Bostic said. “So we prepared [for them]. We’re going to treat every team like they’re a Top 20 team in the state. That’s what’s going to push us to be the best.”
