WELLINGTON – Ahmad Haston has had a senior season and high school football career to remember at Palm Beach Central.

Let us highlight Haston’s statistics and level of accomplishments that made him a unanimous MVP of the Year selection.

•38 touchdown passes

•9 interceptions

•92 carries

•526 yards

•12 touchdowns

Haston led the Broncos (12-2 final record) to its first regional title and state semifinal game in school history, beating teams such as Jupiter, Stoneman Douglas, and Palm Beach Gardens in the Class 4M playoffs this past November.

The most meaningful game for Haston this past season was in the Class 4M-Region 3 final, when he used primarily his legs in leading his team to a landmark 14-10 home win over Palm Beach Gardens for Palm Beach Central’s first regional title. He had seven carries for a season-high 107 yards and a touchdown, while throwing for another one in the four-point margin of victory.

Numbers do not lie. But numbers are not everything, particularly when it comes to the Palm Beach Central outgoing senior and UMass early enrollee.

And let us be quite frank here. Haston is a leader like no other at Palm Beach Central and throughout Palm Beach County.

We call the former Broncos quarterback Mr. 561 for a good reason.

Haston spoke on his MVP honor.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” the 6-foot-2, 200-pound quarterback said. “I still remember my first moments of my high school journey all the way until the end. It’s amazing to see how my hard work is paying off. But most importantly, I’m glad for all the people I met along the way (teammates, coaches, media coverage, etc). I will hold those memories way longer than my football career.”

We are going to share a flashback moment when Haston was named Mr. 561.

Haston, who was Palm Beach County’s only four-time weekly MVP winner this past season, spoke with New Era Prep about his level of impact on and off the field on Nov. 3, 2022.

“All the hard work I put in since I started playing the game of football…times like this help you sit back and enjoy the work that you put in so far,” Haston said. “I’m thankful to be the No. 1 quarterback. We have a great ‘23 class in Palm Beach County. I hope all of these boys go off to college and go do great things. If they don’t go to play football, still I hope they be successful in life. I respect every single one of those guys, and I wish them nothing but the best.”

And now that Haston’s high school career is finished, his focus has shifted from Palm Beach Central to UMass.

Haston officially signed his letter of intent with UMass on Dec. 21, 2022.

“All the moments that led up to this. All the memories with my teammates. Us pushing each other in practice,” Haston said. “All the teachers and staff members that helped me out along the way with my goals academically. Just every little thing. Every little detail. My parents, my family, all my family who put love into me when I needed a ride to go to a game. Just every little detail that led up to this moment. I felt that when I signing with my college.”

Haston spoke on what he has always loved about UMass.

“They were the school that believed in me,” Haston said. “They believe what I believe. They truly showed that they love my talent. There’s nothing they want to change about me. They want me to come be the quarterback for their team as the quarterback I am now. And that’s the best I can ask for in a place.”
