JUPITER – Jonathan Mosley finished his high school football career on the very highest note possible.
Powered by the fact Jupiter’s Week 11 home game was Senior Night against South Fork, it also served as a chance to maybe get Mosley’s team into the Class 8A playoffs. While the Warriors (6-4) just missed out on a spot, they’re certainly happy with the fact that Mosley torched South Fork with 554 total yards and an jaw-dropping nine total touchdowns in their 61-47 win.
Mosley’s final stat line against South Fork: 419 passing yards, five passing touchdowns; 135 rushing yards, four touchdowns in regulation.
We can’t recall any quarterback before Mosley having that kind of record-breaking performance. As a result of this once-in-a-lifetime happening, the 6-1, 205-pound senior quarterback easily walked away with the MVP of Week 11 honor.
Mosley spoke of his game against South Fork, which will surely go down as the best performance of the year in Palm Beach County.
“It feels great, but I couldn’t have done it without our amazing coaching staff, offensive line, recievers, defense and the guys on the scout team giving us a look every week,” Mosley said. “We bought into the program Coach Tharp had envisioned, and we made big leaps forward.”
Mosley looked at one play in particular that stood out to him. His touchdown pass to senior wideout Kenny Jordan in the first quarter proved to be memorable in more ways than one.
“Kenny Jordan caught it over two people,” Mosley said. “It was his first touchdown and he missed half the season due to injury. But he’s worked really hard to get to that point, and I knew he was ready when the time would come.”
Jupiter junior tight end/defensive end Cristian Orth was highly impressed with how Mosley led his team to a 14-point win over South Fork and a winning record for the first time in more than 10 years.
“It’s amazing honestly, knowing all the work we put in together these past two years almost every day,” Orth said. “To see it pay off, especially the way he did in his last game, was great. It’s no doubt the best performance by any football player I’ve seen in my life. The things he did were video game-like.”
Orth went on to speak about Mosley’s level of leadership that helped to spark a culture change at Jupiter.
“Ever since he came to Jupiter, he’s just shown since day one how great of a person he was and how he could lead a team his sophomore year,” Orth said. “He’s the best quarterback in the region, and it’s proven with how he prepares and in his leadership.”
Mosley, who has four offers right now from Columbia, Davidson, Jacksonville, and St. Thomas, reflected on the slew of milestones that his team has achieved this season. There are at least three that stood out to him in a big way.
“Us beating Tohopekaliga (33-21 win in Week 1) on the road and the way our defense played, scoring multiple touchdowns, just made the game easier for the offense,” Mosley said about one of his best moments this season at Jupiter. “When we beat Suncoast (23-13 win in Week 5) after Chris Roberts had the game winning kick return. And definitely South Fork, when we set a school-record 61 points on senior night.”
Mosley offered a takeaway from his high school football experience at Jupiter.
“It’s nice being able to say that I was part of the culture change at Jupiter,” Mosley said. “When I first got there, we won one game. Then three to then winning six is a great feeling. And I know the underclassmen like [Cristian] Orth, Aiden [Alexander], Dyer, Dustin [Kerrigan] and Nico are going to lead this team in the right direction. They will do what’s necessary to make the playoffs their senior year.”
