LAKE WORTH – Brock Hansel is on the radar right now.
As Park Vista’s senior quarterback, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound signal caller has been leading his team to a successful start this season with a 2-0 record. This includes a breakthrough 17-9 home win in Week 2 over Jupiter, one that could be called an upset by those outside his team’s circle.
Hansel completed seven of his 10 passes for 200 yards and two second-quarter touchdowns to help seal Park Vista’s victory.
For that reason and others, Hansel was easily selected as our MVP of Week 2.
“It feels good,” Hansel said of his honor. “We ran the ball the whole second half because it was wet. Overall it was a big win for us. The coaches gave us a great game plan and we had a great week of practice in order to win.”
Hansel’s first touchdown pass was a 56-yarder to senior wide receiver Chris Pressoir (four catches, 118 yards, touchdown). It came with about 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
“They were pressed and I liked my guy Chris over their guy, so I gave him a chance and he made a great catch,” Hansel said about his end zone play that gave Park Vista a 6-3 lead over Jupiter.
Hansel’s second touchdown pass was a 50-yarder to junior wide receiver Josh Wagenmann on a post route.
“Our o-line did a great job, and I stepped up and made a throw,” Hansel said.
Park Vista assistant coach Rufus Thomas is proud of the level of leadership and execution that Hansel has provided for the team.
“Brock Hansel is an outstanding young man,” Thomas said. “Brock’s performance against Jupiter was just a glimpse of what Brock can do and what he brings to our team. He controlled the offense well and he had some great throws to some of our great talent that Palm Beach has yet to see.”
