PALM BEACH GARDENS – Trevon Taylor has had many standout performances at the quarterback position.
His best one yet came in Week 3 against Palm Beach Lakes on Saturday, Nov. 14, as he tallied four touchdown passes in the process en route to a 43-0 blowout win.
“I can’t do it without my line. They executed all day,” Taylor said. “I couldn’t do it without my receivers. They executed all day. It was the coaches call. We just executed our plays from practice to practice.”
With his near-perfect performance against Palm Beach Lakes, Taylor has been selected as our MVP of Week 3.
“It’s a blessing. I finally got MVP,” Taylor said. “Hard work pays off. I couldn’t do it without my team.”
Taylor connected on two of his touchdown passes to junior Xavier Scott, who was our MVP of Week 2.
The game’s first score came on a perfectly placed 23-yarder to the end zone with 6:35 left in the first quarter. After kicker Chance Gagnon’s extra point, it gave Dwyer a 7-0 lead.
And with 9:05 left in the third quarter, Taylor made the game turn into a running clock by throwing another perfectly placed ball to Scott, who ran it in for a 45-yard touchdown. The Gagnon extra point put Dwyer up 36-0.
“We just have a relationship since we were just little kids,” Taylor said. “We just came out and executed. We did it in practice and watched film.”
Taylor’s other scoring passes went to rising star Elijah Hopkins.
With that said, the win means a lot to the quarterback, considering the fact that he played for Palm Beach Lakes last year as a junior.
“It feels great,” Taylor said. “I just wanted to come back home. There’s no beef with them…I just played great.”
Dwyer head coach McKinley Rolle spoke on how Taylor led their team to victory.
“Special player, special player,” Rolle said. “I’m just happy he’s on my side. He’s a leader. He makes our team go. We’re a lot better because of him. I tell everybody, I tell college coaches, he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Florida. If I had a scholarship, I would look toward him to give it to.”
Taylor’s next game for Dwyer (3-0; No. 2 in Palm Beach County) will be in Week 4 on Saturday, Nov. 21 against Suncoast (2–1). It will be the regular season finale at Jupiter High School, with a kickoff set for 10 a.m.
“We just give it all we got,” Taylor briefly said on the team’s game strategy for Suncoast.
NOTE: Dwyer has had two straight MVP performances in the regular season from Taylor (Week 3) and Scott (Week 2). The collective will look to produce three straight MVP performances this weekend.
