JUPITER – It was a complete effort last week for Emonte Brown.

The Jupiter junior running back had one of the best games of his high school football career thus far in Week 4 against Palm Beach Lakes. He registered 18 carries for 192 yards and three touchdowns, while adding two kick returns for 82 yards, in a 34-28 home win on Sept. 17.

The 2023 athlete had 274 all-purpose yards to lift the Warriors (2-2) over the Rams (0-4).

Brown’s all-around performance was enough for him to share the MVP of Week 4 honor with Palm Beach Central junior quarterback Ahmad Haston, as both players ended up with 34 percent of the vote.

“It feels great,” Brown said. “It’s a good feeling knowing that the hard work we put in as a team in practice to prepare for that game is being recognized.”

Brown has been building off his success from last season, which resulted in him gaining 873 total yards and scoring 10 touchdowns in six games played as a sophomore.

“Emonte was just outperforming them with speed and toughness,” Jupiter senior athlete Max Pareto said about Brown’s approach to each game he plays in, which includes Week 4 against Palm Beach Lakes.

Brown made sure to credit the offensive line for his MVP performance.

“They have been the reason I’ve been able to have success this season,” Brown said. “I have an all-state guard pulling for me in Edwin Mendez and two huge tackles in Ryan Preisendorf and Gage Conklin. My center Jake Russo gives a great push along with the other lineman Joey Bates and Steven Oberst. They give it everything they have every play for me and the other running backs to have success.”

SIDE NOTES: Breakthrough Player of Week 4 nominee and Jupiter senior fullback Ricky Williams had 10 carries for 94 yards. He finished with 106 total yards and a touchdown.

Jupiter will attempt to go over .500 for the first time this season as it plays on the road against Suncoast (0-1) in Week 5. The game is set for Friday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Jupiter is also 1-0 right now in District 7-8A with the win over Palm Beach Lakes. The other 7-8A games this season are against Palm Beach Central (4-0) in Week 6, Wellington (1-2) in Week 8, Royal Palm Beach (0-2) in Week 9, and Palm Beach Gardens (2-2) in Week 10.
