LAKE WORTH – It was a game to remember for Julian Mountcastle.
The Park Vista senior defensive back had his moment in Week 5 against Royal Palm Beach by catching two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns in a 69-0 road win.
This alone was enough for Mountcastle to be our MVP of Week 5.
Mountcastle’s first of two interceptions happened during the second quarter of the Park Vista-Royal Palm Beach game.
“It was extensive film study that really helped me get the first one,” Mountcastle said. “His (the Royal Palm Beach quarterback’s) pre-snap tendencies were a key giveaway, and that’s what I was eyeing the entire time. I knew where he wanted to go, so I baited the pass over the middle and took full advantage of the opportunity. Once I caught it, all I could see was the end zone. I have to give a big thank you to all the other 10 Cobras on the field because the blocking was key to getting those six points.”
Mountcastle spoke on his next interception that was returned for a touchdown.
“It was the very next drive after the first pick,” Mountcastle said. “They ran that hitch concept out of trips earlier in the game, so it wasn’t anything new to me. I knew the pass was going to come out quick, so I had to make a play on it.”
Park Vista senior Shawn Estiverne spoke on how the 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back did in Week 5 against Royal Palm Beach.
“Julian performed great,” Estiverne said. “He showed the county why he’s Top 63 and the best defensive back.”
