DELRAY BEACH – It was go time last week for Brandyn Butler.
The American Heritage (Delray Beach) junior athlete scored two touchdowns and had 100+ all-purpose yards in his team’s 29-24 road loss to Clewiston. Both scores came in the second quarter.
On paper, it may not be much. But it was in the way Butler produced his yards and scores that mattered. It was enough for him to earn our MVP of Week 7 honor.
“It feels good,” Butler said. “I overcame adversity that game. I fumble twice and they (Clewiston) scored off of both of them. Then I came back and scored my two touchdowns and put up many yards for the team.”
Butler spoke more about his two scores.
“My first one was a jet sweep on the goal and I pushed it in,” Butler said. “The second one was like a short post across the middle. I caught it in the end zone.”
Butler’s second score came off a 17-yard end zone pass from sophomore quarterback Dylan Rizk.
With that said, the regular season finale tonight at Cardinal Newman (Oct. 30, 7 p.m. kickoff) looks to be the most pivotal one yet for Butler. We will see how that goes.
