BOCA RATON – When Tra’Nell Hollis was our Breakthrough Player of Week 4 recipient, he made sure to let everyone know one thing back them.

“It feels great,” Hollis said a few weeks ago. “Now it’s time to climb to be MVP.”

After four weeks of grinding it out on the field, no one was going to take this MVP of Week 8 honor away from the 2020 athlete.

While Hollis didn’t play from start to finish in Boca Raton’s 38-14 blowout win at home over Monarch, his impact on both sides of the ball was undeniable.

Hollis started the game with a relatively easy 10-yard pick-six that helped give Boca Raton (4-3) an early 7-0 lead over Monarch. Then he went on to add a 5-yard rushing touchdown to give the Bobcats another score, which helped to tie the game at 14-14 with 1:30 left in the first half.

Hollis was lights out in two full quarters, adding five tackles to his total impact on the game. A hard hit to the head would force Hollis out for the second half, but what he did was enough to be our MVP of Week 8.

“It’s an honor to be MVP,” Hollis said. “The grind don’t stop though.”

Fellow Boca Raton teammate and 2021 defensive end/tight end Ashton Gillotte, who was our Breakthrough Player of Week 8, had a lot to say about Hollis and his impact on the program.

“Tra’Nell is the top athlete on both sides of the ball,” Gillotte said. “He’s fun to be around and he’s humble. He has a true passion for the game and he wants to see others succeed. His numbers speak for themselves. He scores touchdowns, carries and catches the ball, gets tackles, and makes a difference in the game.”

Next game for Hollis and Boca Raton: Week 9 on Friday night at home (Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m. kickoff) against No. 7 Santaluces (5-1).
