WEST PALM BEACH – It is a brotherhood at Keiser.

The concept of synergy has played a significant role in how the Seahawks have managed to blow by their opponents en route to a 7-0 overall regular season record. The tight-knit bond that this team exudes on the field has contributed to them outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 325-52.

In addition to what has been mentioned already, it is the level of talent that oozes out of all three units (offense, defense, and special teams) that has enabled Keiser (5-0 in Mid South/Sun Conference) to rise all the way to No. 4 in the latest NAIA College Football team rankings.

In short, Keiser is a well-oiled machine from head coach Doug Socha to his coaching staff, players, and support staff alike. This football program is certainly formidable in more ways than one.

“You gotta have a group of guys that are like-minded,” Socha said. “We have guys from across the county, the state, and the country. They come from all different walks of life, but they all have a lot of things in common. The energy, the chemistry…it’s been our goal since Day 1. When you have a bunch of really good kids with really good character and you sprinkle that in with talent, then you have a chance to win.”

Keiser has quality players like Kade Glenn, who has been leading the defense for the past three seasons. The defensive back (Jensen Beach alum) is the heart and soul of the Seahawks defensive unit, posting 25 total tackles, one forced fumble, one pass breakup, and two blocked kicks in seven regular-season games this past fall.

Glenn will play a key role in the outcome of today’s NAIA first-round playoff game against No. 12 Arizona Christian (9-1 in regular season). He spoke on the sheer importance of the defense playing at the highest level together in all situations.

“We just want to be the best we can,” Glenn said. “We want to be the best DB’s in the nation. That translates to the linebackers. That translates to the defensive line. We just want to fly around the ball and have some fun. We like to run to the ball. We just gotta keep going and not let up.”

As for the offensive side of the ball, Keiser quarterback Eli Matthews will play a key role in how that side of the ball fares from start to finish in this afternoon’s playoff game.

“This offseason, we have been preparing for this one game,” Matthews said. “It’s been a good experience for us to learn. Now we get it put it into motion.”
