WEST PALM BEACH – Attackman Kristian Strong is having a career year for the Cardinal Newman Crusaders lacrosse team.
Through eight games played, Strong has scored 30 goals (13th nationally) and has added 26 assists (third nationally). His 56 total points also ranks him third in the country.
Strong’s massive 6-foot-4 frame makes him a nightmare for opposing defenders. His size plus his speed helps open a lane for him or one of his teammates to drive directly to the goal.
The most elite part of Strong’s game is his versatility. He is able to play attack and mid-field, while still being the most dominant player on the field.
Strong is also a face-off specialist. He currently has an .825 win percentage on the season.
Kristian Strong is a natural born leader.
During practices, Strong takes younger or inexperienced players under his wing and works certain skills with them. On the field, he is the commanding voice of the team. He is able to read defensive schemes and call out plays.
Going into his senior season, Strong was going to play lacrosse just for fun. He originally had his focus set on going to college and playing football.
However, this season has reignited his love for lacrosse.
Recently, Strong has been receiving numerous phone calls from college coaches about him playing lacrosse for them.
When asked about how his mindset about playing sports in college has changed since the start of the season, Strong said:
“This year has definitely changed my decision. I have been called by a couple schools regarding potentially playing for them. The decision will be hard when I have make it.”
Even though Strong has only been at Cardinal Newman for one season, he is certainly going to leave a legacy much greater than lacrosse.
