Boone, NC.- The Appalachian State Mountaineers hosted multiple high level recruits this weekend, and came away with yet another successful slate of Official Visits.
One of the elite playmakers on campus this weekend was Camden County (GA.)’s 3Star two way standout- David Coleman Jr. Coleman, a 5 foot 11 defensive back just returned from his Visit to Boone and had a lot to talk about.
“I had a great time on my visit to App. State this weekend! The best part of the visit was Coach Devin Coleman {Assistant DB Coach} showing me around the campus making it felt like home. We weren’t only talking about football, school was the biggest priority.”
David Coleman’s been a highly sought after recruit throughout his process, receiving 16 Division I FBS Offers to high major programs like LSU, Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech and West Virginia-but App. State stands out amongst the rest for one giant reason- The Mountaineers are recruiting him with the plan to utilize him on both sides of the ball.
“It’s a big deal to me, and it’s definitely set App. State above a lot of other schools.” Coleman shared with me. “A lot of people don’t get the opportunity to play two sides of the ball at the next level. We all know it can be done, so why can’t I.”
What’s next for the two way star? David told me that Appalachian State is in his final three schools, joined by East Carolina and James Madison. Coleman has scheduled Official Visits with both programs for the following weekends: James Madison (June 13-15) and East Carolina (June 19-21), and plans to have a commitment announced by the middle of July.
