PALM BEACH COUNTY – We purposely kept you all waiting for
this moment.
The primary reasoning for us deciding to release the Top 100 now – instead of later this past summer and after all Week 6 games as initially promised – was because we wanted to see everyone play at least once with our own eyes.
We spent plenty of hours watching and dissecting film on nearly every single Palm Beach County player from the Class of 2020. We included a player’s Hudl highlight film from Weeks 1-10, a player’s Hudl midseason film, and Hudl film from even further back.
We even considered plays that were highlighted by MaxPreps, as well as local highlights from games filmed by ESPN West Palm/NBC 5, CBS 12, ABC 25, FOX 29, and CW 34.
We spoke with local high school
football head coaches, high school football assistant coaches, former high school football coaches, and former high school football players about putting this comprehensive list together. We even spoke with some other local media members about our process.
After taking our time to perform our due diligence, we wanted to make sure we were truly fair to everyone in this long process. We thank you all for your patience.
This was anything but easy, as there were strong cases for more than 100 players to be included in our expansion rankings list, which grew from 50 to 100.
There’s one thing that stood out to us in particular.
Led by head coach Al Shipman, Palm Beach Lakes has the most ranked players on this list with 10 total. For the first time in recent memory, the Rams clearly have the best collection of talent in Palm Beach County – something our No. 1-ranked team can be truly proud of.
Tied with Palm Beach Lakes for the most ranked players in our Top 100 is Pahokee. It may come as a shocker to many, but if one can look past this team’s current 3-5 record, you’ll have to admit that the Blue Devils had the toughest schedule in Palm Beach County this season.
Coming behind Palm Beach Lakes and Pahokee is Palm Beach Gardens, which has six players in our Top 100. The Gators were overlooked as a unit to start this season off, but their seniors have come around and made their collective presence felt in a big way.
Tied at third with Palm Beach Gardens are two teams: American Heritage (Delray Beach) and Benjamin. These private school programs were overlooked with their bevy of talent on its roster, but after conducting an extensive research on them, we found that both the Stallions and Buccaneers have at least six good-to-very good seniors on their team.
At the end of the day, we have a relatively diverse group of players, with 31 of our 35 schools from Palm Beach County being represented on this rankings list.
