DELRAY BEACH – Matt Galardi made a big move for himself on June 1.

The junior-to-be athlete made his choice to transfer from Suncoast to American Heritage (Delray Beach), as he was reunited with fellow junior-to-be and quarterback Joshua Ramos. Both were teammates this past season at Suncoast.

“Obviously it’s really nice to get to keep working with him,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete said. “He’s a great player and we’re good friends off the field. However his decision to transfer wasn’t what led me to mine. I was considering it before I even knew he was. Regardless of what he decided to do, Heritage would have been the place for me.”

In seven games as a sophomore this past season at Suncoast, Galardi compiled 506 all-purpose yards (29 catches, four carries, 16.3 yards per attempt) and four total touchdowns on offense. He added 14 tackles, three pass breakups on six targets, and one interception on defense.

Galardi, who hopes to do even more as a junior at American Heritage (Delray Beach), spoke more about his transfer decision.

“There were a lot of factors,” Galardi said. “I can’t stress enough how difficult of a decision this was for me to make, or how much thinking it took. It ultimately came down to Heritage being a better fit for me personally to balance my academics and athletics. I still have a lot of love for my boys at Suncoast, and I’m beyond grateful that they’ve been really supportive throughout this process. I think they understand that I’m doing what’s best for me, and I appreciate that more than I can put into words.”

Galardi is currently ranked as the No. 20 overall player in his class. He hopes that with a new coaching staff, he could take his game to another level.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Coach [Nick] Martinez, Coach [Herve] Coby, and everyone else down in Delray,” Galardi said. “They’re providing me with an opportunity that I didn’t have beforehand, and I can’t wait to follow through with it and give everything I have for this program at Heritage.”
