WEST PALM BEACH – Top-ranked Cardinal Newman (3-0) earned a program-boosting 35-2 home win over Catholic Memorial (Mass.) this past Friday night (Sept. 15).

As a result of the interstate victory at home, the Crusaders won two Week 4 superlative honors. They are as follows:

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound kicker/punter had a masterful outing for Cardinal Newman in Week 4. Here are his statistics:

•5-for-5 in extra points

•2 touchbacks

•All 4 punts over 45 yards; 2 of them pinned inside the 15; 1 of them was a fumble recovery

Beylo on his Week 4 performance:

“I thought I had a very solid game overall against Catholic Memorial,” the Kohl’s Kicking 4.5 star said. “Me personally, I had a great game punting with a long ball of 57 yards and then a solid game kicking as well. I think I helped the team out a lot with flipping the field three out of the four punts I had, putting CM (Catholic Memorial) in a difficult position on the field and giving our defense the upper hand. Overall my performance was solid, and the best is yet to come.”

After three regular season games played, here are Beylo’s statistics on special teams:

•17-for-17 on extra points

•7 touchbacks

•46+ yard average per punt

Beylo also commented on his team’s overall performance against Catholic Memorial (1-1).

“In the game against Catholic Memorial, we definitely had a great game, especially on defense and special teams,” Beylo said. “Our offense looked good too. We just have some tightening up to do in the red zone. Overall we played really good, and we will continue to get better every week.”

Beylo on Cardinal Newman being our Team of Week 4:

“I think it’s an honor to be recognized with that award, but honestly for us that’s the standard every week,” Beylo said. “We know how good we are as a team. And together, we know we can compete with anyone in the state, if not the nation.”
