Miami Gardens, Fl No. 5 Miami Set To Host FCS Bethune-Cookman The intensity and emotion the University of Miami needed to outlast bitter rival Notre Dame and snap an eight-game losing streak against teams ranked in the top-10 in its season opener will need to be replaced with workmanlike execution as the No. 5 (AP) Hurricanes will host Bethune-Cookman Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.

UM (1-0) used a Carter Davis field goal — with just over a minute to play — to create a 27-24 lead over the Fighting Irish, who entered the game ranked No. 6 in the preseason AP poll, and had its victory sealed by back-to-back sacks by Akheem Mesidor on Notre Dame’s final possession. Quarterback Carson Beck went 20-for-31 for 205 yards and two touchdowns in his Miami debut and first game action since injuring his UCL (elbow) in the 2024 SEC championship game while playing at Georgia. Canes freshman receiver Malachi Toney led all receivers with six receptions and finished with a team-high 82 yards and a touchdown while CJ Daniels made an early entry for “catch of the year” with his one-handed scoring snag in the second quarter that gave Miami a 14-7 advantage going into halftime.

Welcoming the FCS-level Wildcats to Miami Gardens won’t stress the Hurricanes. B-CU (0-1) enters already licking its wounds from a 42-9 loss at Florida International, where it surrendered 456 yards of total offense. Miami should flex its muscle early — building an early lead and coasting to their ninth consecutive home win.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
