LANTANA – Santaluces rumbled its way to a 42-0 rout over Spanish River in Thursday night’s district matchup on its senior night and homecoming.

The Chiefs scored from all over the field. After getting off to a slow start, the Chiefs got things going with a quarterback sneak by Justin Raymonvil midway through the first quarter.

The Chiefs second score would come on a bullet pass from Tyler Kintz to Keyondric Sams to make it 13-0 with three minutes left in the first.

Chiefs defensive back Shonny Estime would end the first quarter with a interception.

The Santaluces defense would continue to dominate in the second quarter. Defensive back Bickley Dorceus would snatch his first interception of the game, and linebacker Andy St. Hillaire would sack Spanish River’s quarterback for a safety, which put Santaluces up 15-0 going into halftime.

The second half would be all Chiefs as they opened it with a kickoff return for a score by wideout Jackson Jules, which extended the lead to 21-0.

St. Hillaire would show up again midway through the third quarter as he recorded another safety on a blocked punt to make it 23-0.

Chiefs running back Gerry Charles would score on a dashing run on the ensuing drive to make it 29-0.

The running clock rule would go into effect with a minute left in the third quarter, as running back Val Carnegie scored on a short run to make it 36-0.

Dorceus came up with his third interception of the game to set up another score by fullback Khalid Edouard, which made it a final score of 42-0.

New Era Prep Co – MVP’s of the game: Dorceus (three interceptions) and St. Hillaire (two safeties, two tackles for loss, two sacks, and a blocked punt).

Santaluces Head Coach Brian Coe would comment on the team’s win and what they’re looking forward to.

“This was the first time our kids actually showed some compassion for each other,” Coe said. “Nobody wants penalties, but we needed to see some fight from our guys and some grit.”

Coe would expand on their next opponent.

“Park Vista is one of the strongest teams in our district,” Coe said. “This is our game of the year. It’s a city rivalry that we’re excited about. We hope to go out there and play the best football game and earn some respect. That’s been our mission and our motto all year.”
