Welcome to the post practice review of Miami Dolphins Training Camp! There are 40 more days until the Dolphins kick the ball off against the Colts and we are already 6 days into Training Camp, let’s get into what happened today!
As the team was coming out, second year EDGE Chop Robinson was deemed as the best player in yesterday’s practice, donning Chop the orange jersey for the morning.

Today was the first day of pads for the entire team and things started popping very fast. I had a close view on the secondary warming up. Players that stood out to me were Kendall Sheffield, Patrick McMorris, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Jason Marshall Jr. During 1-on-1’s Sheffield and McMorris held their own against Miami’s arsenal of offensive weapons. both were physical which in turn, created pass break ups and incomplete passes.
Staying on the defensive side with the front seven, Kenneth Grant was moving offensive lineman like they stole his lunch money today, and defensive lineman Zeek Biggers made several plays during team drills getting a sack on Tua. Staying in team drills, Chop, Jaelen Phillips, Zach Sieler and Willie Gay Jr all made their presence felt in the back field multiple times throughout drills. Willie Gay Jr. continues to impress me throughout camp so far, he is always making plays at the line of scrimmage and disrupting the offense. Channing Tindall had a good pass break up, it is great seeing him make plays. This pass rush will be the most feared once the season starts. Anthony Weavers’ defense has been dominating the majority of practices since training camp has started.

Offensively, today was one of Zach Wilsons best days as a Dolphin. He threw a nice pass to Ezukanma and then threw a 15-yard pass to Tahj Washington which Washington took 50 yards after spamming the juke button. Quinn Ewers showed off his deep ball several times, as he continues to grasp the offense better than most expected. De’von Achane broke multiple runs for long gains which is not a surprise. Tyreek Hill is looking more comfortable as ever today where he caught a couple passes. Jaylen Waddle had two nice catches thrown by Tua, one was over the middle against Minkah, andhe other time was a beautiful deep ball where the Penguin dove for it and caught it. QB’s had a perfect day today, throwing 0 interceptions.
Some bad news for the day was safety Ashtyn Davis went down with a non-contact leg injury when he was back peddling during team drills. He was visibly frustrated when Coach McDaniel and Tua came over to him to console him. He came back onto the field with a boot on his left leg and on crutches.
Depending on the severity of the injury, the Dolphins will need to look for free agent safety’s to bring onto the roster. No update has come out yet, hopefully it is nothing serious. In the end, defense won today and my player to wear the orange jersey for tomorrow is Willie Gay Jr. See you tomorrow for day 7 of practice!
