Hollywood, FL.- We’ve got a big one on deck tonight ladies and gentlemen!
Tonight (September 19) two of South Florida’s finest programs face off in a matchup filled with national stakes. The Chaminade Madonna Lions (2 FL, per MaxPreps) host the Norland Vikings (5 FL) in a game that should be explosive like the Fourth of July.
Both squads started off the season on the wrong foot, as Norland lost their pre-season opener vs Armwood, and the ‘Nade Boys began 0-2. However, this down period ended quite quickly, as Norland is now 3-0, and Chaminade is 2-2. Both squads have already racked some quality wins, including Norland’s 21-17 victory over Miami Northwestern and Chaminades 48-45 victory over Heritage Plantation.
As previously stated, this matchup has all the fixings to be one of the top games in the state, as anywhere you look, there’s talent on the field.
As always, let’s break down this matchup and predict what’s to come in just a few short hours!
Norland
Norland features one of the most explosive offenses in all of South Florida High School Football. The Vikings boast an arsenal of weapons, including QB EJ Yapoor, RB ZeQuan Wright and WR Jade Card. This offensive big three has been lethal for Norland, as their presence opens so many game planning opportunities. Yapoor, the Dade County Career Yards Record Holder, has started his senior season off HOT. His playmaking abilities are like non other, as every time he has the ball in his hands, he has the potential to make magic happen.
Defensively, Norland is led by star twin EDGE rushers Darryll and Mandrell Desir. The Desir Twins, both 4-star UCF Commits, are monstrous threats that enjoy bullying opposing offensive lineman. These two are game wrecking talents that can truly disrupt the flow of an offense every given snap.
Chaminade Madonna
The ‘Nade Boys definitely started off the season with multiple question marks, losing to St John Bosco (California), and Blanche Ely on consecutive weekends. However, Chaminade got back to their winning ways with victories against Heritage and Miami Edison. The Chaminade offense isn’t what most are accustomed to seeing, as stars Jeremiah Smith, Jojo Trader and CJ Bailey are now dominating at the collegiate level.
The all-new all-different Chaminade Madonna team features the talented 4-Star WR duo of Denairius Gray (Auburn Commit) and Koby Howard (Penn St Commit). Sophomore QB Tyler Chance has had a strong past few weeks, really finding his groove leading this offense. The old Chaminade is long gone, but the new age of this program is just beginning.Chaminade’s defense has been one of the better corps in South Florida. Defensively, the Lions’ secondary is fortified by 4-Star Miami commit Chris Ewald has been locking down the perimeter, clamping opposing WRs.
Analysis
This game has explosive players on both sidelines. Every person that steps foot on the field tonight has the potential to make a big play. The stars are out, the lights are bright, let’s watch some good football.
Tonight’s matchup is ultimately going to come down to which defense is able to disrupt the flow of the game, so with that being said, I believe Miami Norland will take this game.
Norland’s dynamite offense, alongside a strong pass rush will win this game for the Vikings.
