The Elite 11 Regionals keep marching on, and the talent was on full display in Indianapolis on Saturday.

Working through a wide variety of drills, some of the best quarterbacks in the country had a chance to show off their skills. From short routes to scramble drills, and everything in between, it was very fun getting to see prospects get to work in one of the best showcases in the country.

In the midst of the workout, there were some clear standouts, and I have plenty of other thoughts. What were some of those big takeaways? Let’s dive into it!

Mencl and Abrams Stand Out

Heading into the Indianapolis Elite 11 Regional, two of the best quarterbacks in the group were Israel Abrams and Will Mencl. Highly regarded by multiple recruiting services, it was clear that the expectations were high for both players heading into the event. And by all accounts, both players delivered from an on-field talent perspective.

Abrams, who has been linked to plenty of top-level programs across the country, showed the ability to hit throws all over the field. The footwork was smooth and quick on every throw; there was rarely wasted movement on any of his reps. On all of his throws, the ball jumped out of Abrams’s hand. Compared to a large chunk of the players at the event, the Illinois native was on a different level. Additionally, the movement skills were extremely impressive. Abrams threw the ball with ease off-platform while also showing great acceleration and speed before unleashing throws on the run.

Mencl, an Arizona native, showcased the full range of his skillset as well at the Indianapolis regional. The quarterback displayed lightning-quick feet, but also very smooth mechanics. Mencl had the body control to not get outside of himself on all the different types of drills; the mechanics were honed in while his athletic gifts allowed him to make things look very easy. Along with his off-platform ability, I was impressed by Mencl’s overall accuracy throughout the showcase.

Heading into the rest of the spring, summer, and fall, both Mencl and Abrams should be two players getting a tremendous amount of buzz. Based upon their performances on Saturday, that should not be a surprise in the slightest.

Warren and Nawrot Take Home Honors

Mencl and Abrams were not the only standouts at Elite 11, and by a wide margin.

Braylen Warren, currently a Missouri commit, ended up receiving the camps’ only invitation to the Elite 11 Finals, and for very good reason. The 2027 QB won the accuracy competition at Elite 11 and was a force all over the field. Warren’s footwork was impressive, the mechanics were repeatable on every throw, and he showed the necessary arm strength and touch on a wide variety of routes.

After the event, I asked Warren how he felt about his, pun intended, elite performance.

“I felt ecstatic. I thought I did really well on the field. Obviously, you can improve; there will be ups and downs. But I felt really good out there and I felt really confident.”

An underrated quarterback based on rankings, Warren should see his stock rise in the coming weeks and months. He has all of the tools to be a great player at the next level, and he showed them off in spades on Saturday.

Alongside Warren, Jake Nawrot stood out in a major way as well. Winning “Alpha Dog” from 24/7 Sports and the Rivals “MVP” of the day, the rising 2027 star showed off the full range of his abilities in Indianapolis. The movement skills were at a high level right off the bat; a basketball standout, Nawrot did not waste movements outside the pocket and showed impressive body control. Even more impressive was the arm talent that the quarterback displayed. The ball jumped out of Nawrot’s hand and was argubaly the best out of any quarterback in the group. Coupled with his accuracy, and it was very clear that the Arlington Heights native is an elite name in this quarterback class.

Other Notes from the Elite 11

Here are some other notes from today’s action in Indianapolis:

  • I really enjoyed how 2027 QB Dre’Mail Carothers threw the ball to all levels of the field today. Specifically, he stood out throwing the deep ball and on in-breakers across the middle of the field. He also displayed impressive touch on his throws. Carothers currently holds, according to 24/7 Sports, five offers, including ones from North Carolina and Kentucky.
  • 2027 QB Jack Devine showed off a wide range of skills, including off-platform throwing and the ability to hit throws to all areas of the field. Was very impressed by the SDSU commit all day long.
  • 2027 QB Kamden Lopati, an Illinois commit, was a force all day long. He hit every throw that was asked of him, and then some. Really impressive day from one of the top quarterbacks in the country.
  • 2027 QB Emmett Queen displayed very good touch on his throws all day long. Holds 14 offers according to 24/7 Sports, including ones from Kentucky and Arizona State.
  • Other 2027 quarterbacks who stood out to me: Michael Vander Luitgaren, Connor Jenne, Reign Illian, Kade Goodin, Wynn Diegel, and Zane Johnson.
