New York City, NY- It’s official! Miami’s star QB Cam Ward has been named as finalist for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
Ward will be joined under the bright lights of New York City alongside Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, Colorado WR/DB Travis Hunter, and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel for the Heisman Trophy Ceremony on Saturday, December 14th.
Throughout the season, on a week in and week out basis, Cam Ward has been the BEST Quarterback in the game. In 2024, Ward recorded 4,123 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns, alongside 196 yards and 4 scores on the ground. The fifth year senior from West Columbia, Texas has had an incredible journey to get to this moment. From receiving no Division I FBS offers coming out of high school, to dominating at Incarnate Ward for two years, transferring to Washington State for another two before ending up in Miami.
Every season, Ward has just improved and developed as a passer, turning himself into one of the top QB’s in the country. In 10 of 12 games, Cam Ward threw for well over 300 yards and 2+ passing touchdowns. With this more than impressive stat line, Cam Ward has commanded the nation’s top passing offense week after week.
Cam Ward becomes the fifth Miami Hurricane and third ‘Canes QB to be named as a Heisman Trophy Finalist. Ward joins legendary ‘Canes QBs Vinny Testaverde (1986) and Gino Torretta (1992) in their legendary trips to NYC. Both Testaverde and Torretta ran away with the Heisman Trophy.
