WELLINGTON – Timing is everything.
In the case of Jairo Hernandez, this summer is proving to be a point of elevation in multiple ways. The senior-to-be offensive lineman has seen his stock rise steadily on both the high school visibility front and the college recruiting front.
Just yesterday (June 26), the 6-foot-2, 250-pound lineman announced on his Twitter account that he will transfer from Seminole Ridge to Palm Beach Central. It is a move that few – if any – saw coming.
With that said, Hernandez had an average of six pancakes per game throughout his junior year at Seminole Ridge. He allowed only two sacks in 10 games played.
Hernandez helped Seminole Ridge (6-4 final record) become one of Palm Beach County’s surprise teams by reaching the Class 7A playoffs, something that few saw happening as well. And he helped anchor a line that allowed the Hawks to average 19.2 points per game on offense.
Hernandez is a rising star who thrives on his pass blocking ability, which could give the quarterback time to throw. He could also read defenses pretty well, which could results in plays being extended in the trenches.
Hernandez recently earned his first college scholarship offer from Keiser. It must be noted that he received the offer while he was at Seminole Ridge.
We will be following Hernandez’s overall progress over the next several months ahead.
