WELLINGTON – Now that his high school basketball career has ended with the Wellington Wolverines, Christopher Walker will be focusing on graduation and the next level.

On Nov. 11, 2020, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard signed his letter of intent with the Arkansas-Little Rock men’s basketball team. He received his offer from the Trojans on Oct. 22, 2020 and pledged his verbal commitment to them on Oct. 30, 2020.

For Walker to quickly make his decision to go with Little Rock, it means something special has already happened and will continue to do so once he officially steps on the college campus sometime this summer.

“They’re a really good team,” Walker said. “Their coach Darryl Walker played in the NBA. He knows what he’s doing. He knows how to get players to the next level…It’s just the perfect school for me.”

In 15 games this past season, Walker averaged 21.2 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. One of his best games happened in the District 10-7A semifinal round, when he scored 30 points and added six rebounds on his 18th birthday in a 66-59 home win over Royal Palm Beach.

“Chris was a great competitor every night out on the court,” Colin said. “He had to do a little bit of everything for us because of his size. He had to score, shoot it, rebound, and defend other teams’ bigger players. He did it all. I’m proud of him and the work he put into this season.”

As a result of all his past and present accomplishments, Walker was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. He is the fourth player from Wellington in the past five years to receive this prestigious nod, joining the likes of Trent Frazier (2017), Bryan Williams (2018), and Linton Brown (2019).

Walker earned this honor on Feb. 18.

“It’s a blessing to be on the list,” Walker said. “To be recognized as one of the top guys, I was just happy to see that. It motivates me to get a lot better than what I am. I’m just blessed to be a part of it.”
