WEST PALM BEACH – Josh Philostin has been relatively quiet this summer.
For the Cardinal Newman defensive back, it has been about him positioning himself as well as possible for his upcoming senior season.
Philostin participated in no camps and no 7-on-7 tournaments. He also is nowhere near close to making his final college decision.
What does this mean?
Our No. 3-ranked overall player in Palm Beach County spoke on his particular situation and more.
“Workouts are going good, especially with the team. We’re loaded with tons of talent,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pound standout said. “My personal workouts and team workouts are all going good, crafting and getting better everyday.”

Philostin on how his junior season turned out this past year:
“I’d say it went pretty well,” he said. “I know we came up short, but I feel like we made a big improvement from the prior year. As a team we got better and better week in and week out. We made history, going 10-0 for the first time since 1982. Individually I think I did well. I made some big-time plays for my team all year.”
As a result of his stellar junior season, Philostin earned the following honors:
•First Team All-County (Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel)
•Second Team All-State: Class 3A

Philostin credited Crusaders head coach Jack Daniels and his coaching staff for the success he has achieved to date.
“Coach Jack is a great coach,” he said. “He helps out in more ways than just football. He’s always trying to help out any way he can. He really look out for his players and got their backs. I can say the same with the rest of the staff. Great coaches who are even better people off the field.”
And now that we are about 30 days away from the start of this upcoming fall season, Philostin has shared his goals.
•12+ touchdowns
•6 interceptions
“I don’t really have many individual goals,” he said. “I just want to lead my team to a state championship.”
