WELLINGTON – The second half of Luby Maurice Jr.’s senior season at Palm Beach Central has been going strong.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver recently earned an offer from FIU. His key milestone moment happened on Monday, Nov. 21.
And just four days later (Nov. 25), Maurice Jr. made his decision to go with FIU as his college football destination for the next few years.
Maurice Jr. explained the reasoning for his final college choice.
“FIU showed me a lot of love,” Maurice Jr. said. “Once they seen me, they liked me and they pulled the trigger right then and there. I liked that they showed me a lot of interest. I like them.”
Maurice Jr. took a visit to FIU on Nov. 12. He shared his experience at the Miami-based school.
“I like it a lot down there, so I feel like that’s gonna be the best place for me,” Maurice Jr. said.
Maurice Jr. said he went back to FIU for an official visit this past Tuesday (Nov. 22).
“It feels like home,” Maurice Jr. said. “I’m just back in the city, not too far away from home. I just feel natural there.”
Maurice Jr. on his prospects of contributing right away at FIU:
“If I work hard enough and put my mind to it, yessir,” Maurice Jr. said. “It’s going to be greatness. That’s it.”
SIDE NOTES: In 11 games this season, Maurice Jr. has caught 30 passes for 724 yards and 16 touchdowns.
