LAKE WORTH – Park Vista took down conference opponent John I. Leonard 37-8 Monday night.

Park Vista has been struggling to find some consistency, but its District 10-8A victory over John I. Leonard helped the cause. This team is on a two game winning streak after playing Monday’s rescheduled game.

The Cobras forced the Lancers into a early three-and-out as Patrick Deangeles and Austin Staats teamed up to do the deed.

Cobras athletes Aydin Henningham took back the ensuing punt to put Park Vista ahead 7-0 with 9:59 left in the first quarter.

After a tough back-and-forth battle on defense, Park Vista would break through in the second quarter with a 40-yard field goal by Daniel Castaneda to make it 10-0.

The Cobras would strike again before halftime on a touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Thomas to wideout Cole Polnasek, which gave them a 17-0 lead.

The third quarter didn’t hold much action, but Park Vista’s linebacker Staats recorded three sacks, two tackles for loss, and an interception to lead their defensive charge.

John I. would find some life in the fourth quarter by scoring on a pass from Jadiel Cruz to Jonel Dieujuste and convert a two-point conversion, which cut Park Vista’s lead to 17-8.

The rest of the forth quarter would be all Park Vista.

Nick King ran for a touchdown with eight minutes left in the game to make it 23-8.

Then Park Vista defensive lineman Victor Miller would intercept a Cruz pass, which set up a promising drive for the offense.

The Cobras offense would go for broke and score on the next play. It would be a pass from backup quarterback Matt Paulo to wideout Sonny Derival with 7:49 left in the fourth quarter, which would extend the lead to 30-8.

Park Vista’s final score of the game would come on a quarterback sneak play by Chase Lawson with 2:31 left in the fourth to make it a final score of 37-8.
