BOCA RATON – Park Vista took down its second straight district opponent in a 65-7 win over Spanish River Monday night.
The Cobras have played two Monday nights in the last two weeks due to games being rescheduled. They won both in dominating fashion, which include last week’s 38-7 takedown of John I. Leonard and now Spanish River.
The Cobras wouldn’t waste any time in getting on the board as they got a safety on Spanish River’s first offensive drive to make it 2-0. The offense would turn around on the ensuing drive and score on a pass from Tyler Thomas to Sondy Derival, which made it 9-0.
Midway through the first Park Vista would find the end zone again on a pass from Thomas to Nick King out the backfield to make it 16-0. King would find the end zone on the ground to make it 23-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Ground and pound was in the Cobras game plan as they scored another rushing touchdown. But this time it was Logan Hoffman finding his way through traffic to push the Cobras lead to 30-0.
Spanish River would find some life in the second quarter as senior quarterback Connor Tribby showed off his cannon arm and threw a 75-yard bomb pass to fellow senior wideout Blake Goldberg to get the Sharks on the board.
Momentum would shift back to Park Vista as Aydin Henningham would take a jet sweep for a touchdown to make it a score of 37-7. Senior running back Zacoldy Thaddies would score on the ground also with a little under four minutes left in the first half to make it 44-7.
Defensive back Cole Polnasek picked off Spanish River’s quarterback, which would help set up a touchdown pass from Matt Paulo to Mason Proch. The score would be 51-7 at halftime.
It would be all Park Vista in the second half as the defense did not surrender a touchdown. The running clock rule would be in effect throughout the entire second half also.
The Cobras have shown great resiliency to win two Monday games in a row. They’ll need to continue their great run as they face a hungry Santaluces squad this Friday at 6 p.m.
