Palm Beach County, FL.- The road to States has officially begun for Palm Beach Central.

The Broncos, one of the premier programs in Palm Beach has been the last squad standing during the previous two seasons. Central’s hoping to eliminate the 561’s 6 year State drought, and last night’s game certainly propels momentum.

Central opened the game with a bang, as senior RB Frankie Vomero fights his way into the end zone for a 5 yard rush, dragging the entirety of both squad’s trenches with him. PBC then takes Ft. Pierce Central’s offense off the field with an Antoine Sharp interception, setting up a 31 yard rushing touchdown from QB Chance Routson. This would be Routson’s first of two rushing scores, as he scores his second in the final moments of the half.

At the end of the first half, PBC led FPC 24-0.

Midway through the third quarter, Central scores again with a Routson to Nedrick Boldin 28 yard TD pass. Finally, Routson throws his 4th score of the night to Preston Parker Jr. bringing the final to 38-0.

Analysis

Since the midway point of the season, Palm Beach Central has been red hot. The Broncos have clicked on both sides of the ball, but especially defensively. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the growth of this core over the past few weeks. The PBC defense came away with 2 Interceptions on the night, from Antoine Sharp and Keenan Libecca. The secondary showed elite fortitude, as the Cobras could not get anything going in the air. Libecca, Tiago Mendes, Cam Dwyer and Pedro Souffrant didn’t allow any explosive plays. Central’s front seven wrecked havoc all night from the trenches, as Bryan Hall, Mcowens Innocent and Nas. Ware came away with multiple sacks and TFL’s.

Offensively, Chance Routson has been must watch football. Central’s signal caller has lit it up all season, but as the primetime lights turn on, Routson shines brighter. Once again, Chance displayed elite offensive abilities, tossing multiple “college ready” throws while also picking apart the defense with his legs. PBC’s arsenal offensive weapons were fully exposed to the world, as Nedrick Boldin, Preston Parker, Kamare Williams and Matis Gibson were picking apart the FPC secondary.

Kevin Thompson’s squad is riding hot in the early stages of November football. The Palm Beach Central Broncos will host the Vero Beach Fighting Indians next Friday, November 22 in the 7A Region 4 Semifinals.
