San Marcos, TX – Breaking News from the Texas State Bobcats. Freshman Guard Cameron Simpson announced his commitment to Texas State on social media this afternoon
Cameron, a Central Florida native, spent his redshirt-freshman season at UCF after attending a national high school program Oak Ridge (Orlando). Simpson averaged 13.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in his senior season with Oak Ridge. His Oak Ridge team contained a loaded roster with Jalen Reece (LSU), Jamier Jones (Providence), Jordan Tillery (VCU), and Tyler Johnson (VT), and others went 27-4, winning a district and regional championship, losing to 4x State Champion Columbus in overtime in the title game.

After a preseason injury Simpson was sidelined for UCF’s 2024-25 campaign and entered the transfer portal this spring. Cam will bring length and shooting to the Texas State roster, as he shot 51% from Three his senior season.
The Bobcats went 16-16 last season, Expect Simpson to help them be a SBC contender come march.
