PAHOKEE – Let us admit something right now.
We have not given Wilfred Demezier his proper respect. We took him for granted on the offensive line, a position he has played quite well at for the Pahokee Blue Devils for at least the past two seasons.
With true apologies to Demezier, it is past time to celebrate the 6-foot-4, 240-pound offensive standout. And with that being so, the Muck’s best big man in high school football will get his honors right now.
In his junior season, Demezier posted the following statistics:
- 27 pancakes at right tackle
- 6 tackles on defense
- 1 sack on defense
Demezier’s best individual game was in Week 11 against Glades Central for the Muck Bowl. His statistics were as follows:
- 5 pancakes at right tackle
- Played only on the offensive line for the Muck Bowl in Pahokee’s historic 46-14 road win over Glades Central
- Helped Pahokee earn 32-point margin of victory in the Muck Bowl; school record

Demezier provided his succinct thoughts on both how the Muck Bowl and how the season went as a whole.
“Muck Bowl was great,” Demezier said. “We brought the trophy back home. My junior was good, but it would’ve been better if we won state.”
Demezier’s level of production has been parlayed into a few verbal college scholarship offers. They include the following:

Demezier said he does not know yet when he will make his final college recruiting decision. But he did reveal which school has emerged as his favorite at this time.
“NCCU because my cousin is Davius Richard,” Demezier said of the celebrated HBCU quarterback and Glades Central 2018 alum. “Davius is a very humble and hardworking person.”

For the summer offseason months, Demezier participated in the Mercer Mega Camp this past June. It was the only camp the Pahokee senior standout went to.
“The camp was good,” Demezier said. “It was something new to me, but a good experience. It helped me see what I needed to work on. As a lineman, I was good all around. Just need to get a bit more strength. My workouts this summer were great. I was getting better by myself and with the team everyday.”
Demezier spoke on new Pahokee head coach Matthew Sparrowhawk and how he has been instrumental in his overall development.
“Coach Hawk is a great coach,” Demezier said. “He the reason I’m where I’m at today. He been working with me since my ninth grade year. But the whole Pahokee coaching staff is great coaches as well.”
For this upcoming season, our No. 24-ranked overall player will be playing an entirely new position.
Demezier will be moving from right tackle on the offensive line to tight end for the first time.
The Pahokee offensive standout shared his senior season goals at the tight end position. They are as follows:
- 400+ receiving yards
- 5 touchdowns
Demezier summed up his dream scenario to end his high school football career this season with the Pahokee Blue Devils.
“My team goal is to go undefeated, beat Hawthorne (Class 1R-Region 4 playoff opponent and defending 1R state champion), and win state,” Demezier said. “I’m really just trying to do whatever I can for the team to be at its best and bring a state championship back to the Muck.”
